Dining
In all of our dining venues and menus, Hotel Tugu Bali offers a true adventure for the taste buds. Each of the hotel’s dining venues reflects a different part of Indonesia’s multi-cultural history with superb culinary standards.
At Tugu Bali, where the heart leads is where one dines day and night. One may choose any of the available dining venues, or pick a most favorite romantic spot anywhere – in the garden, at the quiet beach, private dining pavilion for two above the lotus pond and so on…only surrounded by nature, torches and candle lights. At Tugu Bali, every wish is made possible.
The flirtatious crimson dining room, Bale Sutra or “Palace of Harmony”, is an authentic reconstruction of a private 1706 Kang XI Chinese temple. Previously this place of worship was used for family gatherings and festive reunion dinners. Experience the theatrical Forbidden City Dinner served by the merry ‘eunuchs’. Choose from the elegant Chinese Imperial cuisine or discover the Indonesian Peranakan flavors form our various set menus.
This dining chamber is decorated with antiques of venerable Balinese royalty, some from the 19th century and some related to the Puputan Wars, the “Battle to the Last Man”.
Bale Puputan gives a dramatic atmosphere for your special dining or gathering. Enjoy the comfort of the antique regal armchairs while they dine at the largest 19th century whole marble table in the country surrounded by antique statues representing the creatures of Balinese mythology.
For diners who prefer a la carte dining, Wantilan Agung exudes a quaint and romantic atmosphere. Under the very tall and grand roof overlooking the sea or the lush gardens, the beautiful space is lit by candles and surrounded by Indonesian antiques and cultural relics. The menu, ranging from seafood to gourmet continental cuisine, traditional Balinese, Javanese and Chinese Peranakan, offers a true adventure for the taste buds.
As the sun sets on the Indian Ocean, enter another world of exotic Bali, a dreamlike atmosphere filled with candlelight and magical sounds. In your 18th century antique day-bed on a private beach illuminated by oil lanterns and the crimson Canggu sky, you will be treated to a private gourmet picnic in the moonlight and an unforgettable end to the romantic evening with a blindfolded dessert-tasting.
We encourage our guests to feast alfresco anywhere on the property. Choose to wine and dine in our wonderfully lush gardens with numerous hidden spots, floating on a romantic torch-lit lotus pond, or on our beach-front lawn where the world feels far from ordinary as the night sky sparkles and the waves gently rush ashore.
Dedicated to Ni Ketut Cenik, a legendary Balinese dancer, the Calon Arang Bar is dramatically finished in black, red and shimmering gold. The crowd varies from stylish surfers nursing cognacs to young couples wallowing in Tugu’s bewitching sunset glamour. An attentive bartender is keen to whip up your drink of choice or suggest our signature cocktails as you linger around and admire the glorious sunset.
In Indonesian tradition, tea drinking is a celebration of tranquility – a time to reflect and give back to mind and body that a busy lifestyle takes away. Choose from our extensive collection of loose leaf tea with traditional cakes and local delicacies served on banana-leaf lined woven basket. Sit back, relax and enjoy the picturesque view of our garden and the ocean from your sofa while you sip in a cup of life’s simple pleasure.
