Dining

In all of our dining venues and menus, Hotel Tugu Bali offers a true adventure for the taste buds. Each of the hotel’s dining venues reflects a different part of Indonesia’s multi-cultural history with superb culinary standards.

At Tugu Bali, where the heart leads is where one dines day and night. One may choose any of the available dining venues, or pick a most favorite romantic spot anywhere – in the garden, at the quiet beach, private dining pavilion for two above the lotus pond and so on…only surrounded by nature, torches and candle lights. At Tugu Bali, every wish is made possible.

Bale Sutra

The flirtatious crimson dining room, Bale Sutra or “Palace of Harmony”, is an authentic reconstruction of a private 1706 Kang XI Chinese temple. Previously this place of worship was used for family gatherings and festive reunion dinners. Experience the theatrical Forbidden City Dinner served by the merry ‘eunuchs’. Choose from the elegant Chinese Imperial cuisine or discover the Indonesian Peranakan flavors form our various set menus.

Bale Puputan

This dining chamber is decorated with antiques of venerable Balinese royalty, some from the 19th century and some related to the Puputan Wars, the “Battle to the Last Man”.

Bale Puputan gives a dramatic atmosphere for your special dining or gathering. Enjoy the comfort of the antique regal armchairs while they dine at the largest 19th century whole marble table in the country surrounded by antique statues representing the creatures of Balinese mythology.

Wantilan Agung

For diners who prefer a la carte dining, Wantilan Agung exudes a quaint and romantic atmosphere. Under the very tall and grand roof overlooking the sea or the lush gardens, the beautiful space is lit by candles and surrounded by Indonesian antiques and cultural relics. The menu, ranging from seafood to gourmet continental cuisine, traditional Balinese, Javanese and Chinese Peranakan, offers a true adventure for the taste buds.

Beach Front Lawn

As the sun sets on the Indian Ocean, enter another world of exotic Bali, a dreamlike atmosphere filled with candlelight and magical sounds. In your 18th century antique day-bed on a private beach illuminated by oil lanterns and the crimson Canggu sky, you will be treated to a private gourmet picnic in the moonlight and an unforgettable end to the romantic evening with a blindfolded dessert-tasting.

Barong Garden

We encourage our guests to feast alfresco anywhere on the property. Choose to wine and dine in our wonderfully lush gardens with numerous hidden spots, floating on a romantic torch-lit lotus pond, or on our beach-front lawn where the world feels far from ordinary as the night sky sparkles and the waves gently rush ashore.

Calon Arang Bar

Dedicated to Ni Ketut Cenik, a legendary Balinese dancer, the Calon Arang Bar is dramatically finished in black, red and shimmering gold. The crowd varies from stylish surfers nursing cognacs to young couples wallowing in Tugu’s bewitching sunset glamour. An attentive bartender is keen to whip up your drink of choice or suggest our signature cocktails as you linger around and admire the glorious sunset.

High Tea

In Indonesian tradition, tea drinking is a celebration of tranquility – a time to reflect and give back to mind and body that a busy lifestyle takes away. Choose from our extensive collection of loose leaf tea with traditional cakes and local delicacies served on banana-leaf lined woven basket. Sit back, relax and enjoy the picturesque view of our garden and the ocean from your sofa while you sip in a cup of life’s simple pleasure.

Recreation

We are happy to share our Balinese and Indonesian heritage with you, not only through our extensive on-site art collection but also through the many unique activities designed by Tugu to bring you into personal contact with local traditions and nature.

Morning Yoga at Hotel Tugu Bali

Yoga at Hotel Tugu Bali offers a variety of classes for all levels and provides a comfortable space to explore the body, mind and soul. Our classes are invigorating, empowering, detoxifying and taught by professional, passionate teachers at a level determined by you.

Newer students can build a strong base while more experienced practitioners can take their poses deeper with variations. Be okay with not being able to do everything perfectly — our classes are designed to challenge and inspire. You don’t need to already be flexible, strong or coordinated to do yoga. Yoga will take you there.

Spa

Hotel Tugu Bali’s Waroeng Djamoe Spa connects you to the secrets of the ancient mystical East: authentic treatments from old Indonesian traditions that combine aspects of spirituality with the art of physical healing to achieve the ultimate balance of mind, body and soul.

Cooking Class

Indonesia is a blessed country rich in history, arts, cultures and traditions. Its diverse cuisine is a celebration of this wealth.

Iboe Soelastri’s Cooking Class in Hotel Tugu Bali introduces a unique hands-on kitchen experience that exposes guests to centuries-old tradition in Indonesian gastronomy, specifically Javanese and Balinese cuisine, embracing authentic, indigenous cooking techniques and ingredients. Glimpse into the beautiful simplicity and exotic richness of Indonesian cooking and dining culture with Iboe Soelastri, Hotel Tugu Bali’s chef of fine Indonesian cuisine.

Surfing

For those who no longer consider themselves beach bums, Hotel Tugu Bali’s Surf in Style is a blend of five-star bells and whistles with world-class surf. At Canggu Beach, a quiet surf and sunset beach in the quaint fishermen village of Canggu, we provide the luxury of stepping out of bed every morning, checking out the waves out of your bedroom windows, and coming home from a hard day of surfing to the luxury of your beautiful suite. Treat yourself with late breakfasts by the sea, heavenly massages at our spa, ice-cold beers and the many other ways we spoil our surfer guests with. Tugu is a heaven for surfers, kite surfers and paddle boarders with a taste for the truly exotic luxury.

Floral Arrangement Class

Learn the spiritual art of gebogan (Balinese floral arrangements) and get creative with dulang (Balinese clay) and native Indonesian fruits and flowers – each variety and color is positioned on compass points according to the deity they represent. Take home your work of art as a keepsake of your stay at Hotel Tugu Bali.

Djamoe Class

Djamoe is an ancient art of herbal healing from Java. To preserve the knowledge of this traditional medicine, the tightly guarded recipes have been handed down through generations. Set in an authentic and mildly dramatized Javanese kitchen, the Djamoe Class is a step back in time to the days where kitchen and backyards also served as pharmacies.

Balinese Dance Class

Experience the splendor of Balinese dance presented by esteemed dance instructors. This class is designed to provide an insight into the significance of art, dance and music to the Balinese, both in everyday practice and in a spiritual context.
